My elementary school band has just recently qualified for nationals. The band is made up of talents and dedicated grade 6′s,7′s and 8′s. We are the first elementary school in the UGDSB to be called to nationals.
We have an amazing music program, starting at grade so that when they get to high school they will ahead of everybody, my grade 7′s and 8′s and already on the blue book, which is started in grade 8.

St. Thomas is small enough that you need to get out into the schools and talk, in person, to each and every music teacher. It would also help to make it a highschool or public school "competition", by encouraging them to "see if you can top PCI",etc.

We’re still in the process of adding research to our website, and while we are a Canadian organization, we want to connect with research from around the world. Several good sites in the U.S. are the Music For All Foundation, SupportMusic.com and MENC.org. The California Arts Alliance for Arts Education is in your neck of the words.In terms of the specific question you ask, I’m not sure what information might be out there. I am trying to obtain sound evidence that music has positive behavioral and educational effects on those who engage in it, with the goal of placing additional, privately funded music teachers into public school districts in California. Could you direct me to any sources that show the positive effects of your unique program?
